I felt really surprised when I saw some students greet their teachers by putting the teachers' hand to touch with their cheek, and they do this with me. It's greeting in Indonesia like Wai in Thailand. I asked some information with my Indonesian friends, they told me that it is not only with the teacher but also with their parents or elders to pay respect to them. They call this "Sa-lim", like "Wai" in Thailand.
It's also very different in Thailand. It makes me strange and it's good that younger pays respect for elders or their parents and teachers.
